Kate Farrell
Kate Farrell is a senior here at DM, and this is her first (and last) year writing for Wolf’s Print. A lover of vintage and nostalgia, her passion for writing originally stemmed from 80’s movies like The Lost Boys, Stand By Me, and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and psychological flicks like Taxi Driver and A Clockwork Orange. She barely picks up a book unless forced to by her English teacher (sorry), but All Quiet on the Western Front was another match that sparked her flame for writing (she will debate with anyone who thinks that book is boring). Her chicken scratch about her favorite albums, movies, and fashion lines was initially confined to the walls of her journal, but she now hopes to release her passions through Wolf’s Print in hopes of inspiring others to do the same.
Around school, you can find her participating in a variety of clubs and activities. As co-president of Drama Club, the Social Media Manager of Amnesty International, a member of the National Honors Society, and a former Assistant Stage Manager for DM’s theatre productions, Kate’s “resume buffing” plate is always full. During her off hours, you can find her vinyl shopping, attending concerts, watching movies, or exploring Downtown Tempe and Phoenix with her friends. She has been collecting vinyl since 2019 and has amassed a collection of 85+ records. While she already has most of her favorite albums, like Jeff Buckley’s Grace, Mac Demarco‘s Salad Days, Gorillaz’s Plastic Beach, and Alex Turner’s Submarine, she still hunts for more to add to her collection. In 2022, she attended a concert nearly every month, starting the year with Current Joys, and ending with ‘Zona Music Festival in December.
After high school, Kate hopes to obtain a Doctorate in Nursing Practice. While the details of her path to a college education are still fuzzy, she is excited about what the future holds for her. She might go to SCC first, travel the world, and then transfer to a more prestigious college, or she might head straight into a 4-5 year degree program. Who knows? What she can confirm, however, is her passion for Psychology and aiding others. She plans on pursuing a career as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and wants to lessen the stigmatization surrounding therapy and mental health.
