Anissa Matkin, Associate sports editor, staff writer

Anissa Matkin is a writer for Wolf’s Print. She is a part of the class of 2023 in her first year of newspaper. She is a returning varsity golf player and dance program member who is currently treasurer of Wolf’s Print. Anissa hopes to join FIDM Fashion Club this year to further her passion for fashion. Her love of creative writing came when she started to write about events in her life and was inspired by fictional stories. Such stories would influence her pieces and start a love of reading and writing at a young age. Her favorite novels growing up were Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K Rowling and The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Both of which she found equally intriguing in very different ways. The Goblet of Fire would sprout her love of fantasy, while The Book Thief sprouted her love of somber realistic writing. Today, Anissa prefers to write more realistic pieces that catch her attention from what she hears from people around her. Her piece called Stuff talks about the beauty and pain of life in adolescence that go unnoticed by adults written in the third person from which she drew inspiration from fellow students. When it came to writing based in reality, Anissa also found inspiration reading Vogue magazine and current issues in the fashion industry. She hopes to win an award for her writing this year or next when submitting a piece to the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Anissa would like to study marketing at New York University’s Stern program and receive a golf scholarship to their school. Professionally, she would like to be a fashion strategy and client analytic for designer brands. Anissa is on Instagram and would love feedback at @anissa.rose05
