Students sought to represent countries during annual International Day
January 22, 2021
Interested in representing your culture? Another culture? Here’s your chance.
The International Baccalaureate Student Association announced this week plans to hold Desert Mountain’s annual International Day Event, a two-day celebration of the world’s cultures, in March.
But they’ll need your help.
IBSA is seeking students to sign up and represent a country from anywhere around the world. Students will then be able to research, prepare a trifold poster, and present about their country at the event.
All DMHS students will be able to participate and visit the event throughout the school day to observe and interact with each country’s station. School officials have yet to formally approve the event, pending COVID-19 status and the number of people who will be participating.
“This year, we hope to offer the event both in-person and virtually,” said Kiki Innes, one of the event’s organizers. IB students can earn CAS creativity and service hours, Mr. Sheh confirmed.
If you would be interested in representing a country at the event, you can sign up on the official International Day Signup Google Form by Friday, Feb. 5
You can present alone or with a partner; please refer to the country list attached to the Google Form to make your country selections. Presenters will be missing some of the school day and must obtain teacher permission to participate.
