I am uncertain about the fall year- my college has not reached out about their plans yet and it is expensive to go there and my parents don’t want to pay tuition if I won’t be on campus. So I’m a little worried because I was really looking forward to being on campus ready to go.

In the fall I was planning to attend ASU. Instead of living in the dorms, I have opted two get a two bedroom apartment with a roommate in Tempe because I was unsure of the dorming situation and how I wanted to approach that since COVID-19. I wanted to make sure I could secure a place to live in the fall that was on campus and felt like a space that I could keep safe in if need be. If there is a second wave in the late summer months I have a place on campus where I can quarantine and not worry about having to keep up with school work from off campus. The university may be much stricter about the rooms and dorms on campus in wake of the new circumstances which is why I have chosen to pay for an apartment instead.

COVID-19 has definitely impacted the class of 2020’s last quarter of high school, and while I’m disappointed to be bored and having to stay at home, I’m appreciative that I and my close friends and family haven’t caught the virus.

I am planning on going to Medical School in Europe, but now I am not sure if I will even be able to fly to Europe because of the quarantine. I also don’t know if my first year will be online or not.

Personally, I am ok with graduation and prom being cancelled if it helps people stay safe and helps other from dying. It stinks to not be able to celebrate moving to the next phase of life, but what’s most important is the safety of the public. Instead of dwelling on the sad parts and feelings sorry for myself, I am focusing on my next steps towards college and the next four years. I hope all colleges will be open in the fall, so we can continue to learn and work towards an undergraduate degree.

COVID-19 has definitely changed the way I think about cooking food, spending freetime, and having a social life. It has impacted the way I have to interact with my college experience, I don’t get to tour and meet other incoming students so its mostly through zoom or instagram. COVID-19 also impacted my choice for college, I wanted to go somewhere more safe for finances and from a level of my connection with the school.

The rona basically put my plans on pause for hopefully just one semester. Instead of living my with my sister and little kitty in an apartment in Tuscon and going to UofA honors i will now be remaining in my moms house and more likely than not taking some SCC classes for a fun little gap year. So yeah, not really what I envisioned but c’est la vie.

So far, my senior prom and graduation has been cancelled. Although these were events I was looking forward to, I was able to accept it because I have had four years of memories to recall. In a way, I’m just missing the final chapter. I’m more willing to miss the final chapter versus the first. I’ve just received an email that my first semester of college may be cancelled. This is what has effected me most. Online graduation? Fine. Car circle instead of prom? Alright. You can’t make a zoom call for move in day. There’s no car circle for making new friends thousands of miles away. Covid May ruin my first semester of college, not cool corona.

Since i’m staying in AZ, I feel like I may be able to do in-person classes, so that isn’t really a concern. However, I know that my college experience may be different at the beginning. It makes me upset because I have been looking forward to Fall 2020, when i’d finally start my college experience and meet new people. Now, I realise that I won’t be able to do these things, at least right away, because of COVID-19 and it’s risks.
