Sophomore Jack Yampolsky, junior Isabelle Knowles, senior Megan Yarnall, and senior Carter Warner perform during Improvs Sept. 13 performance, the troupes first of the year. Im really proud of how weve all come together to work as a team this year, said Warner, co-captain of the troupe. Members of the troupe captured first place at an Improv tournament during the state Thespian Festival in November in Phoenix.

Megan Yarnall and Isabella Marias play Narrate, a game in which actors interrupt a scene to tell the audience facts about the scene that the other character doesnt know. This is my creative outlet, semicolon, where quirkiness is glorified. Improvs roots can be traced to 18th-century Europe as part of commedia dellarte an art form that featured comedic masks and stock characters who were thrust into classically comic scenarios.
