David Lukacik is a returning Wolf's Print contributor and Senior at Desert Mountain High School.
David is the captain of speech and debate, co-revitalist of the Desert Mountain Model United Nations club, and the vice president of Young Democrats. You may recognize him as a former cast member of DMTV. David is also involved in the community as a political organizer, including his work in the Sunrise Movement, a national climate change activist group. Additionally, David is a long-suffering member of the International Baccalaureate program. David was a part of Wolf's Print last year, as a web editor, and has written plenty across IB and in Speech and Debate papers.
As an avid reader, David's room is full of many, many… many books. There have been attempts to catalog his collection but to no avail. Not a single surface remains free of a book. Authors including Patrick Rothfuss, Brandon Sanderson, Carlos Maza, Ezra Klein, and Gerald Posner, and an incredibly long list of others, have played a pivotal role in David’s life. A wide range of philosophy, politics, theory, and their accompanying authors have had a significant place in David’s life and campaign of self-education. Coming from a family of doctors, nurses, and scientists, the liberal-arts geared mind of David Lukacik is often scrutinized, but his passion for reading, writing, and overall knowing has fueled his ravenous desire for academia.
The future of David Lukacik is one that has not been decided by himself or fate. At the moment, many career paths are being considered, with those of ER Doctor (succumbing to his family's legacy), ‘uber-famous’ philosopher, or a think tank researcher as the top contenders. Being a Slovak citizen has given David the ability to attend school abroad, and most likely eat an abundance of potatoes and cheese. David plans on doing research at some point in his career, and if the path of philosophy or politics is followed, the writing opportunities would be endless.
